20 June 2025

This week, EFFAB was in Strasbourg during the European Parliament plenary session.

Our Director, Ana Granados Chapatte, and Policy Advisor, Barbara Barbosa, were on the ground to discuss the role of animal breeders in Europe with MEPs.

They also took the opportunity to attend the second official meeting of the Sustainable Livestock Intergroup, promoted by MEPs Benoit Cassart and Maria Grapini.

Key messages of the meeting:

🔹 Livestock is essential to our food systems, rural areas, and resilience
🔹 Adequate and continued financing is crucial for the sector’s future
🔹 Farmers care deeply about their animals – no one more so than them

The event also featured scientific perspectives from Animal Task Force, Teagasc, and researchers from the Technical University of Munich, highlighting the role of Livestock in sustainability.
