Renew of the Joint Call for the Adoption of NGT Regulation Without Amendments

02 June 2026

EFFAB, together with 33 other European agri‑food chain organisations, has once again called on Members of the European Parliament to approve the trilogue compromise text on the EU Regulation for plants derived from New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) without further amendments.

After nearly three years of discussions, the proposal is now approaching its final votes in the ENVI Committee and the June plenary session in Strasbourg. The compromise reached in December 2025 represents a balanced and workable framework that supports innovation, competitiveness, sustainability and resilience across the European agri-food chain.

Any attempt to reopen this carefully negotiated compromise through further amendments would only create new delays and postpone the implementation of a framework that Europe urgently needs.

EFFAB and its partners therefore urge MEPs to endorse the compromise text and allow Europe to move forward, unlocking the benefits of NGTs for farmers, breeders and the wider agri-food sector.
