The European Forum of Farm Animal Breeders is the association that represents the animal breeding and reproduction organisations and companies in Europe.
Members of EFFAB are involved in the genetic improvement of different farm animal species and represent a wide diversity of farming systems. Ruminants, pigs, poultry, aquaculture and insects, are the main species covered by EFFAB members.
Together with our members, EFFAB promotes sustainable, responsible, and balanced animal breeding

Representing the sector
Advocating for a science-based and innovation-friendly policy framework that enables responsible animal breeding and reproduction across Europe.
Promoting responsible breeding
Demonstrating the value of sustainable, transparent and responsible animal breeding through dialogue with policymakers, stakeholders, the livestock value chain and society.
Driving innovation
Supporting innovation and responsible animal breeding through key initiatives, including FABRE TP, the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Farm Animal Breeding and Reproduction, the Code EFABAR, which provides a framework for responsible breeding practices and continuous improvement, and numerous Horizon Europe projects.
Our members
The members of EFFAB represent the vast majority of animal breeders and reproduction in Europe.
They are active in breeding ruminants, pigs, poultry, (shell)fish and insects. The type of organisation is very diverse, ranging from small cooperatives to large private companies that are leaders on the global market. Although different in organisational structure, they all are member of EFFAB for one reason: to ensure a suitable environment for animal breeding activities in Europe!
