Society

Picture
The livestock sector is a sensitive sector in society. This makes working in farm animal breeding also a sensitive area. Societal concerns are related to food safety, ethics, cultural values, genetic diversity, animal welfare, and ‘naturalness’. To deal with this it is important for farm animal breeders to cooperate with researchers, policy-makers, other professionals from the industry, and society to discuss these topics.

Transparency is of major importance in the dialogue with society, either in breeding or the development of new technologies. Transparency and dialogue with society contributes to sustainability as well.
